Tracey Gibbs is known for her inspirational teaching, with a focus on technique and musical interpretation drawn from 15 years of performance experience. With the development of her Three Core Drill System and focus on core muscle control for stability, Tracey’s unique approach and great communication skills are the perfect combination for learning to belly dance.

 

 

 

Core muscle control and the development of zones of freedom

This workshop examines and explains the basic posture used in the dance, moving on to enjoying the feeling that the zones of freedom produces; maximum movement, minimal effort. This workshop can be tailored to accommodate beginners or improvers.

And all they can do! Covering all the basic shimmies and bodyquakes used in modern Egyptian style, from a standing start right through to moving and layering. A high energy, fun workshop.

Shaabi

Discover this funky Egyptian music, with big moves and sassy style from the streets of Cairo. This workshop includes tuition on the meaning of this style and the singers and musicians who perform Shabbi.

Khaleegi

An introduction to the dance style and music of the Gulf regions, with simple to learn step choreography.

Tunisian

An introduction to the music and steps of this fascinating and fun North African dance, with additional tuition covering the costuming and history of the region.

Slow and Sensual

Unlock the delicious side of Oriental dance and how the use of the abdominal muscles can help you with camels and undulations.

Masterclasses and Private Tuition

Tracey also runs high end technique masterclasses and private tuition on a one to one basis. Many dancers find that one to one tuition helps them to achieve more from their dance, including those wishing to become professionals. With over 15 years performance experience, Tracey can help with technique, presentation, costuming & choreography.

 

 

Manchester High School for Girls, Fallowfield

Regular Monday night classes covering technique, musical style, choreography and more. The class starts with a comprehensive warm up which leads into drills and pure technique, the first hour is ideal for beginners.

The second half of the class carries the technique further with step combinations, musical interpretation and choreography. If attending the second half only then you will need to arrive 15 minutes early to warm up.

The classes are held at Manchester High School for Girls which has a lovely new dance studio with mirrors, air conditioning and a sprung floor. The car park is free, secure and well lit.

Directions

MHSG is on Grangethorpe Road off Wilmslow Road, between Fallowfield and Rusholme. It is easily accessible by car from Manchester City Centre, Princess Parkway and Kingsway. The school is on the busiest bus route in Manchester with most 40's Buses stopping within yards.

At the school, turn into the first open black gateway and bear right. Walk a little way to the right of the domed building, up a few steps and through the door to your right, head left through the Changing Rooms to the Dance Studio.

Please note: Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the Dance Studio, so please take advantage of the Changing Rooms to change for the class.

What to wear

Loose comfortable clothing and if you have one, bring a scarf to wrap around your hips. Most students dance in bare feet but you can also wear ballet pumps. Classes run throughout the year except Bank Holidays and if Tracey is travelling.
